David Leeds has an A.B., cum laude, from Harvard in Art History, and an M.F.A. from UCLA in Film Production. He has made several feature films (including the western, "Shoot The Sun Down") and documentaries, functioning variously as writer, producer, and director. He currently divides his time between writing, painting, and sculpting. His poetry and short stories have been widely published.

His abstract painting has been described as "...an elegiac continuation of the classic Abstract Expressionist sensibility... paintings that create landscapes of emotion, space, and light that look outward to nature as much as inward to a wordless, primitive place." His sculpture has recently focused on expressionistic, primitive female forms.
